Say What?

Monday, November 19th, 2007

I’m sorry but how does this even happen? Apparently, the lady in this news story decided to go diddy bopping onto a runway and got hit in the head by a plane…oh yeah…you read that right. She got hit in the head by an airplane as it was taxiing to takeoff.

Umm, excuse me, but how do you not see a plane coming? Just a question.

Breaking News

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

Hold onto your pocket puppies. Paris Hilton has been cut loose. A news conference should be held in about an hour to explain the circumstances.

Poor baby. I guess she just couldn’t take life in the real big house. :D

Idiot of the Day

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

What sort of idiot does it take to lunge at the Pope? Apparently this one…

It is an eerie reminder of that fateful day more than 25 years ago when another idiot, ironically in the very same Square, shot Pope John Paul II and very nearly killed him. You know you have extremely serious problems when you try to take out the Pope. Geez.

The “Moral” of the Story

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

If ever there was a time to be a fly on the wall, this would be it. Jerry Falwell has died…and, while I do feel sorrow for the loss that people who cared for him must be feeling, I have to wonder about the conversation taking place right about now in that great big conference room in the sky. Yep…I do have to wonder about that one. ;)

…And So I Struggle

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

I am struggling with the knowledge that my hero has feet of clay. I have been so in awe of Ty Pennington and the good he does for people all over the country. Some of you may have heard by now that Ty was arrested for DUI in Los Angeles a couple of days ago. Ouch. That’s bad. Really bad. The good part though…if there can be a good part…is that he is taking full responsibility for his actions. Here is what he posted on his website:

“To My Fans:

I made an error in judgment. We all make mistakes, however this is about accountability. Under no circumstances should anyone consume alcohol while driving. I could have jeopardized the lives of others and I am grateful there was no accident or harm done to anyone. This was my wake-up call. I also want to apologize to my fans, ABC Television and my design team for my lapse in judgment and the embarrassment I have caused.”

He was arrested, just like anyone else would have been. He spent several hours in lock-up, just like anyone else would have had to do to sober up. He posted bond, just like anyone else would have had to do. He will have to appear in court, just like anyone else would have to do. He will probably plead guilty (he’s just that kind of guy) and get sentenced the same as anyone else.

Please remember that, unless a death or grave injury is involed, a first offense DUI almost never involves jail time. The jail time is usually suspended on the condition that a court ordered substance abuse program is successfully completed.

Ty messed up. He knows he messed up. He freely and publicly admits he messed up. I hope we can all (me included) give him credit for all the good he has done and not let this mistake undo it all. Everyone deserves a second chance, even our heroes…even when we think they ought to be perfect.

John Podhoretz of the NY Post has written a great article and I totally agree with him. See what you think:
