Breaking News

Friday, May 5th, 2006

Just moments ago, the Director of the CIA, Porter Goss, resigned. Sitting beside President Shrub for a press release in the Oval Office, Goss gave no indication for the resignation. Neither did Shrub.

Hmmmm, sniff, sniff, something smells fishy. null

Red Hotdogs

Friday, May 5th, 2006

null I absolutely must tell you about the best hotdogs in the whole world! Why now? I had some for dinner last night and was amazed yet again at how good they are! Oh my.

Bright Leaf Franks are made by Carolina Packers and unsurpassed in the world of hotdogs. Oh my goodness!! I kid you not.

I grew up referring to them as “red hotdogs” and we always got excited when we had them for dinner. It was and still is a real treat, especially since we can’t get them here in Virginia. Rest assured though, a trip to McLamb’s Abattoir on Benson-Hardee Road in Johnston County, is on the agenda when anyone makes a trip to Carolina. As a matter of fact…I do believe it is nearing the time for me to replenish my supply. :D

Question

Friday, May 5th, 2006

I’m sure by now, like the rest of us, you have been inundated with commercials touting David Blaine’s latest feat of idiocy. What is the deal with this guy. Now headlines blare that he will be “Drowned Alive”. Oooohhh.

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but isn’t it true that the only way to drown in the first place is if you’re alive? There is no way to drown a dead guy, right? So, I guess that pretty much makes that headline redundant again one more time. ;)

Well, keeping that in mind, I have just one question for Mr. Blaine regarding his attempt to hold his breath underwater for 9 minutes (aka suicide attempt, on live TV, in livingrooms everywhere). Here’s my question…You guys ready for this?…You sure?….Okay, here goes…

WHY!!!!?????

Deepest Sympathy

Thursday, May 4th, 2006

null null

In the early morning hours of today, two Chesterfield County, Virginia Police Officers were shot after responding to a domestic call. One of the officers, G. J. Buro, died at the scene and the other was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition (he had been shot five times). The suspect was shot and killed.

Unfortunately, I know all too well the pain and sorrow this tragedy will bring to the Chesterfield County Police Department. It wasn’t all that long ago that we went through it ourselves here in Chesapeake. It is nothing less than devastating. Please keep my law enforcement brothers and sisters in your prayers.

Thanks

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006

Just wanted to say “Thanks” to all of you who called and e-mailed to ask about just who it was that burned my biscuits. I decided to confront the situation head-on before I went home for lunch. I put all of my feelings and concerns into a letter, to be sure I left nothing out, and then hand delivered the letter.

I stood by while the individual involved read the letter. It was a heart-wrenching moment when the “biscuit burner” finished the letter. Needless to say, I got another promise (I know, I know) and I guess the sucker in me will try to believe once more.

Keep me in your thoughts.

Lesson Learned

Monday, May 1st, 2006

One of the hardest lessons to learn in life is that people don’t always turn out to be who you think they are. They aren’t always as kind to you as you are to them or as willing to value you as a friend or even a person. Trusting someone who turns out not to be worthy of that trust can be very painful. Especially when there is no apparent reason for a disrespectful attitude toward you.

The thing to remember is that, no matter how wronged you may feel, it is never reason enough to treat that individual as less of a person. Stand up for yourself but don’t sink to their level and don’t allow this bad experience to affect your relationship with anyone else.

I’ve had to face this truth recently and I am working very hard to remain within the boundaries of my values as I deal with someone who has disillusioned me so very much. I pray for God’s grace to deal with both this individual and this situation in a way that respects the person that I am.

What They Really Mean…

Monday, May 1st, 2006

The headline, Immigrants Set for Massive Rallies, really should read, How to Celebrate a Mexican Holiday in the USA.

Check your calendars sweeties. Today is Labor Day in Mexico. Today is also the day immigrants have decided to hold their “Day Without Immigrants” protest. The majority of the immigrants involved are Hispanic. Coincidence? Hmmmm, I think not.
