The Time Will Come….

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Barbara Jean is toast! She called me no less than 37 times yesterday after lunch wanting to come spend the afternoon with me at work. No. Been there. Done that. Lived to regret it…ALOT. She could make the Pope nuts!

So, after a well placed little white lie (I told her the Chief was in the office so she needed to stop calling) the calls FINALLY stopped. I should have known enough to be scared…very scared. This is what greeted me when I got home from work yesterday afternoon:

Click the photo for a closer view. Dear Lord. She got me good. Now, you must first realize that I truly dislike the color pink. Barbara Jean knows this. Look what she did!! You can’t see it but there’s even pink silly string all over the porch! The items hanging from the top of the porch and the railings are pink and purple party boxes that say “Fashion Party”. Pink streamers EVERYWHERE. My, my, my.

Not only did she gift wrap the storm door in a brilliant flourescent pink foil paper but she also wrote messages on the wrapping. Among them:

“Bet you wish you had let me play at the office now!” and “Revenge is sweet”.

I laughed extra hard when I pulled the gift wrapping off the storm door only to find that she had wrapped the main front door as well! Gracious! Oh yes, revenge is sweet and the child will pay. This I promise. She got me good.

ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

I became very well acquainted with my snooze button this morning. Very well acquainted. I believe we met at least three times. Needless to say, I had to forgo the Cheerios to make it to work with a modicum of punctuality. I found a jelly honey bun thingy in the machine that served as psuedo breakfast…one I’m sure I’ll regret in about an hour and a half.

My cell phone burst into song a little bit ago (it plays Footloose…love it) and the caller ID said it was The Kid (my niece)…aka Barbara Jean (if you watch Reba then you know what I mean). Anyway, The Kid and I have wonderfully rude nicknames for each other so, seeing that she was calling, I quickly answered with, “What, Pig?” Totally appropriate, believe me.

But. Um. It wasn’t The Kid on the phone. It was Mama. Oops. She got a kick out of catching me off guard. I had a stroke. I called my Mama a pig!!!!! OMG!!!!!! Luckily, she forgives and still loves me. We’re going to lunch today. Chesapeake Pizza. Yum. The Kid will be there too. Trust me when I say, there will most definitely be payback. Muhahahahahahahaha…..

Ahhhh

Sunday, January 28th, 2007

The night is quiet. The flames of the fire in the fireplace are lazily lapping at the logs. The puppies are curled up sweetly sleeping. It is snowing in Chesapeake.

No, wait…it stopped snowing in Chesapeake.

No, wait…it’s snowing again in Chesapeake.

Wait, wait, wait wait…it stopped snowing.

Whatever. I’m going to bed. Goodnight.

Things Gone Wild!

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

I know I haven’t posted in a little while. I had a wonderfully ugly winter cold. I’m sure some of you can relate all too well. Now, for the things that have gone wild…

The “sitemeter” on this page has stopped counting. It stopped several days ago and, even after three e-mails for assistance, it is still not counting. Soooo, I have no idea who has been visiting.

I have TiVo on my television. TiVo not only records what I program it to record but it also records “suggestions”…things it thinks I might like to see based on my watching patterns. For some unknown reason, my TiVo has gone south of the border and started recording Spanish shows in the “suggestions” list. What’s up with that? I have NEVER watched Spanish shows…EVER.

The weather here is always, always, always crazy but it is giving new meaning to “crazy” lately. Today the temperature got up into the 60′s. Yesterday, mostly in the 30′s. They’re calling for possible snow flurries tomorrow night. No wonder I got a cold.

More later.

This is Why Not

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

Ever wonder about using a shock collar on a dog. This guy makes a great argument for why not to use one…ever. Watching him is funny but it has to truly hurt a pup as well. The idea of using one of these on a pup is absolutely animal cruelty in my most humble opinion. Thank you Sir for having the guts to show us “why not”.

Terry is Going Home

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

Terry is set to be released from the hospital today and he is most relieved as I’m sure you can all imagine. He has had quite a bit of pain from this surgery but I guess that is to be expected when your chest gets split open…ewww…ewww…ouch!

I want to thank all of you who sent prayers and good wishes for my family during this trying time. It meant more to us than you can know.

Terry

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Terry’s surgery started later than scheduled. At this point in time (10:00 pm), he is still in surgery. I am going on to bed. Mom will call only if something is wrong…otherwise, I’ll get an update in the morning. Keep praying.

Terry Update

Monday, January 15th, 2007

My cousin, Terry, is scheduled for QUADRUPLE bypass heart surgery tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon. They will not need to do anything to his mitral valve. The surgery is expected to last from 5 to 6 hours. Please keep him and my family in your thoughts and prayers.
