I walked past my kitchen table today and my eyes fell on the title of a book I received in the mail. The title? God’s Power to Change Your Life. Methinks to meself…hmmm, that’s not really a surprise, now is it? I mean, come on, even someone with the slightest, minutest possible hint of a belief that God just might, possibly, theoretically, be real is not knocked out by the idea that God has the “power” to change that person’s life. Yeah, not so much.
Alright Deb, since you seem to know the title that really would catch a person’s attention and make them sit up and take notice, why don’t you just share that with the rest of us. (Like how I talk to myself there? Sorta scary don’t you think?). Okay, so here it is…get ready to be blown away. Have you braced yourself?
God’s Desire to Change Your Life
Tada!!! Now that would grab anyone’s attention. Think about how unthinkable it is to entertain the thought, for just a second, that the Almighty God, the Great I Am, the Creator of the Universe and All that Is and Will Ever Be, that Being…God…wants to change your life. How’s that for mind-blowing? Guess what? It’s true.
Sure Deb…it’s true…just HOW do you know? (Play along with me here, still talking to myself).
I know it’s true because God says so and He shows me every single day. Turn with me now to Jeremiah 29:11. Bear with me here as this will be from the translation of Deb…
“I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a future and a hope.”
Yes, He was talking to Jeremiah but, news flash here, he is still talking to us too.
Still in Jeremiah…back up a little to Jeremiah 1:4-5. Again, from the translation of Deb…
“I knew you before you were born. Before I formed you in your mother’s womb, I knew you.”
Not only is that awesome and awe inspiring, it is so cool! God cares about me and what I’m doing and where I’m heading and the decisions I make (good and bad)…and the coolest part of it all is that he allows me to make those decisions myself…you know, that Free Will thing?…Not only do I get to make the choice but I also get to make mistakes and apologize for those mistakes and then I get a do over to set my life back on the track it was supposed to be on anyway. Sometimes some debris is left behind but that is all a part of life and a part of being able to live life and choosing to let God show you what He wants for you.
So yeah, God has got the Power…no question there…I’m just so excited to know that he also has the Desire. Wow.
