Casey Bird

There is a great sadness in my heart. My sweet Cockatiel, Casey Bird, passed away today at the age of 23. I found him this afternoon.  He lived a long, happy life and he will be sorely missed.

My neighbors, Ray & Judith, came over and took him to their house to bury him in the bird cemetery in their backyard. They have now and have had many birds over the years. Nice people. Fine neighbors. They loved Casey. He loved them.

Casey Bird’s cage sits covered in its usual spot. I tear up each time I walk past it. I’ll miss him. Fly free my sweet boy. Fly free.

My heart goes out to you; Casey Bird will be missed by us all; know, however, that he flies on in your heart and soul, and still watches over you. Take the time to grieve; you’ve lost a companion that others cannot understand.

Thank you both so very much. His loss hit me harder than I expected. I know that sounds moronic…at least it does to me. He was so much older than their normal life expectancy (12 – 14 yrs) so every day was a bonus of sorts really. I do miss my little guy. I really do. Your thoughts help.

Of course it hit you hard, he was a part of your life and family, and one of God’s creatures just as we are.
