My family has suffered an extremely shocking loss today. Darryl King, husband of my cousin, Amy Carter King, passed away unexpectedly this morning while on a business trip in Tennessee. We are still getting details but authorities believe he probably had a heart attack. He and Amy have two small sons. Please keep them and our family in your prayers.

Raeford Parrish

My family suffered another blow this morning with the unexpected death of my Great-Uncle, Raeford Parrish. He apparently had a massive heart attack while driving home, left the road, and hit a tree. He was 85 years old.

I just saw Uncle Raeford yesterday at the church before the start of Aunt Sue’s funeral. We gave each other a big hug. He will be greatly missed by us all. Special thoughts and prayers go out especially to his three daughters, Judy Raye, Joy, and Ginger.

Death of Raymond Parrish

Raymond died February 11, 2007 his funeral will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. David’s Episcopal Church, Aylett, Va. Interment will be in the church cemetery. His obituary is in the Richmond Times Dispatch today.

Update on Phil

Aunt Marva Lee just called with the update. Phil received the best possible news yesterday when he was told that the Leukemia is in Stage Zero. The doctor told him to go on living his life like normal and to check back in every three months for blood work to monitor the progression of the cancer.

Aunt Marva Lee said to keep in mind that this form of cancer is the slowest moving form there is and it is possible for it to go into remission. At this point, all there is to do is monitor it.

Great news. Thank God.

Phil Whittington Update

Aunt Marva Lee just called me with an update on Phil to pass along. The type of Leukemia he has is Lymphocytic Leukemia. He will have blood tests tomorrow (Monday) to determine the stage of the disease and what avenues of treatment should be pursued. He hopes to have the results by Wednesday.

Phil is in hopeful spirits and has a good attitude going into this. Remember, the Leukemia was found during a physical and not because of any symptoms. The doctor has told him many people discover they have the disease the same way and not because they are feeling bad. We can certainly be thankful that he is not feeling bad.

I will post more updates as I get them. Do also keep Aunt Marva Lee and Uncle Phillip in your prayers as this has rattled them pretty well.

Phil Whittington

My cousin, Phil Whittington, son of Phillip & Marva Lee Parrish Whittington, was diagnosed yesterday with Leukemia. We have none of the details at this point but we are requesting everyone’s prayers. I’ll keep you all updated.

Terry is Going Home

Terry is set to be released from the hospital today and he is most relieved as I’m sure you can all imagine. He has had quite a bit of pain from this surgery but I guess that is to be expected when your chest gets split open…ewww…ewww…ouch!

I want to thank all of you who sent prayers and good wishes for my family during this trying time. It meant more to us than you can know.

Terry’s surgery started later than scheduled. At this point in time (10:00 pm), he is still in surgery. I am going on to bed. Mom will call only if something is wrong…otherwise, I’ll get an update in the morning. Keep praying.
